Jon Miller – Founder & Creative Director

Born in Salt Lake City, and raised in northwest Colorado, Jon has spent 40 years living a life in connection with the mountains. In the early-eighties snowboarding changed his life on the powder-covered slopes of Steamboat, and remained a core passion that guided his life and career. In 2004, Jon began working with one of the snowmobile manufacturers as an agency creative. His vision laid out the creative/strategic platform for the modern-day storytelling of that snowmobile brand. Jon’s career grew for nearly a decade working with the OEM, and he found his purpose in working to connect a declining snowmobile industry to the evolving backcountry ski and snowboard culture. From this unique perspective, he clearly saw many industry, political and cultural differences which blocked intelligent and sustainable progress for all winter backcountry- focused recreation. His vision and passion has influenced this emerging industry growth in many ways, and from this spark, Backcountry United was born.

Adam Longnecker – Partner & Operations

Jon and Adam met over twenty years ago in the Roaring Fork Valley of Colorado’s central mountains, and have been sharing a passion for the backcountry ever since. Adam’s connection and influence in snowboarding has been felt in the Aspen area for many years—as a terrain park designer, a snowboard coach to some of the industries’ most celebrated athletes, an event organizer, and a world-traveling /board-riding adventure guide with his travel company All Star Adventures. Jon affectionately refers to Adam as his backcountry tour-guide Aspen area guru, and their friendship has endured two decades with standing sideways at the core. Adam brings a diverse set of creative, executive, and organizational skills to Backcountry United, and is as dedicated of a human-powered adventurer as he is a sled-access snowmo-boarder.

Tana’s passion and energy is infectious and her professional connections to the ski and snowboard industry are second to none. Before working at TGR, Tana worked in the Winter Park Ski Area marketing department, and has built a strong clientele as a Marketing Consultant across tech, fashion, retail, and outdoor industries. Kristen Almer – Sponsorships

Kristen has had a powerful and lasting influence on the snowmobiling industry. She is the architect who created and sold the first outside industry sponsorship in the sport of snocross, which helped to revolutionize the way Ski-Doo viewed its race program investments in the mid 90‘s. She developed the sponsorship programs of Scheuring Speed Sports, Warnert Racing, Judnick Motorsports, BOSS Racing, the Yamaha Snowmobile Division, and the AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series. She has served as a consultant to leading athletes, teams, sanctioning bodies and corporations in many facets of motorsports and powersports— including auto racing, supercross, off-road, diesel, enduro, flat track, sprint cars, monster trucks, drag racing and several others. Kristen always sees the big picture and is able to quickly identify growth opportunities, overcome barriers, and get things done— leveraging key players, cultural influencers, media houses, and most-importantly, the businesses which drive industry.
